The development of periodontology (parodontology) is a highly relevant issue both worldwide and, especially, in the Republic of Armenia. Unfortunately, for various reasons, this specialty experienced a decline in independent Armenia: there was no professional school, specialists were not being trained, which inevitably affected the quality of life of the population. This led to misconceptions and fears that periodontal diseases are incurable. The time had long come to establish an organization—a school—that could guide dentists and periodontists in adopting a competent and proper approach to the treatment of periodontal patients.
