Periodontology is one of the rapidly developing branches of dentistry. It studies the health and pathology of the soft and hard tissues surrounding teeth and implants. Today, considering the global rate at which teeth are being replaced with implants, the comprehensive study of periodontology is becoming increasingly important in order to preserve natural teeth for as long as possible and to avoid further complications. In addition, restoring an adequate volume of gingival tissue is essential for the longevity of implants, which is also achieved through the application of modern periodontology guidelines.
